Who is Kennedy Gray?
Background?
I am a second-year graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I received my Bachelor of Arts in History and English with a concentration in Literary Studies from the University of South Florida. I am currently working toward my Master of Arts in History with a concentration in Museum Studies.
My past experiences include working as an education intern at the Florida Holocaust Museum and as an instructional graduate assistant at UNCG. As an education intern at the Florida Holocaust Museum, my time was heavily centered around collection inventory, cataloging, and historical research.
As an instructional graduate assistant at UNCG, I assisted in courses on contemporary world history and U.S. wars and public memory. I largely supported students in comprehensive reading and promoted critical discussion on sensitive topics from both historical and contemporary perspectives.

From May to the end of July I will be acting as the 2025 Gayle Hicks Fripp Intern for the Greensboro History Museum. In honor of Gayle Hicks, former museum assistant director, UNCG alumna, and distinguished author, the intention of this internship is to support my learning and showcase how to apply best professional practices of museum education and interpretation in a hands-on experience working directly with all ages in a museum environment that is deeply rooted in local community engagement.
At the center of the Fripp internship is serving as the head of the Summer Program committee, with two other interns working on creating and facilitating the GHM Summer Program. The Summer Program runs from mid-June through early August, offering a free, two-hour experience for day camps and groups of 10 or more, ages 5-13. Other than the Summer Program, the Fripp intern also assists in end-of-the-year field trips and museum events such as Lifted Voices and Flashback Day.
